Does anyone care about Trenton's litter problem?

Because of unfortunate circumstances, i am now one who must walk or take a bus if I need to go anywhere. It is not unlike me to pick up trash from Trentons church yards, sidewalks, and uncover with my feet the accumulation of "trash" that covers our drainage areas on the street corners. Everyone complains about the flooding on the streets and sidewalks, but dont do a thing to prevent it from happening. Where are our heavy rains, and spring thaw supposed to go, if it cant get through to the sewers? I am middle age, and have a very hard time now bending, because of recent injury, but my disgust with people and the way they treat their neighborhoods is just too much for me to ignore. I passed three young teenage girls one day who stood talking, and as I passed by them, one girl just tossed her potato chip bag to the ground, "didn't even crumple it first!" just threw it down like that is where it belonged. Is this the way they are brought up? Do their parents do the same thing? I stood waiting for a ride one morning in front of the apt. building where I live, when one of my neighbors left, and went across the street to his van. I had noticed him carrying a bag, and a newspaper under his arm. After getting inside his van and starting it up, he opened his door, and just tossed the entire newspaper into the street!!! I cant put in print the disgust I felt at that moment. This was a "grown man!". I know I cant change the world, but I would love to see people young and old, start using the trash cans that are on alot of the citys streets! If there isnt one nearby, WAIT TILL THERE IS ONE! I've walked up some of Trentons sidestreets off of W. State St. and it actually looks like a dump truck overturned and spewed trash all over the place! Show a little pride in where you live folks, and stop making the city streets look like giant dumpsters!

It's hard to stop and smell the roses when the flower beds are nothing but trash!

Yes, and yes. We’re living among the third, maybe fourth generation of horrifically cultivated urban bottom-dwellers, people so far removed from any sense of decency as to have not a sliver of an idea how a decent human being conducts himself.

It is over, and we have lost.

soapstone: Living as I do on a ST street that is swept 4x/week, I've come to the conclusion that this sweeper thing serves only to give government jobs to a select lucky few who would otherwise never survive in a free market economy.

On my street, it's a three-way tie as to who leaves my property more a mess... the sweeper, the City trash truck, and the Waste Mis-Management recycling thugs...

Mr. Clean, this is the way "who" is brought up? Who are you referring to in your post because I hope it's not everyone in Trenton. I chose to purchase a home in Trenton and I (along with several neighbors off West State Street) keep my yard and home nice and neat as do our children. We as tax payers need to demand more from our government in regards to: gangs, schools, litter and so much more.

Trenton will never change unless a great big tzunami comes and cleans it of its filth, its drug dealers and corrupt govt officials who somehow only seem to target the very few people in Trenton who OWN a home and seem to care
